Several natural fertilizers are available for orchids, promoting their growth, development, and ultimately, abundant flowering. Among these effective fertilizers is ginger water, a nourishing option that orchids particularly enjoy “showering” with!

Creating ginger water for orchids is a straightforward process. Begin by taking a piece of ginger root, approximately 50-70 grams in weight. Cut the ginger into pieces and crush it in a mortar to extract its juice.

Transfer the resulting mixture onto a piece of cheesecloth, then thoroughly squeeze out the ginger juice. Approximately a tablespoon of juice should be obtained, which is adequate for the purpose.

Pour the obtained natural ginger juice into a liter of clean, settled water at room temperature. Stir the mixture thoroughly.

Spray the roots and leaves of the orchid with the ginger water, ensuring that moisture does not penetrate into the buds’ level, located in the depressions formed at the base of the leaves. If water accumulates there, use cotton pads to remove it.

Ginger serves as a natural remedy with nutritive and antiseptic properties, beneficial for both humans and plants. Abundant in vitamins and essential microelements, ginger stimulates root development and vegetative mass growth. Fertilizing with ginger water can be performed either weekly to promote active root growth or monthly to sustain overall plant health. Beyond encouraging root development, ginger serves as a preventive measure against fungal diseases, mold, and rot. Furthermore, ginger water enhances orchids’ ability to assimilate nutrients from the air, fostering stronger and healthier growth.
